Ακόμη πιο σκληρός εμφανίστηκε ο πρεσβευτής των ΗΠΑ στον ΟΗΕ, Τζον Μπόλτον, ο οποίος δήλωσε ότι «αν το Συμβούλιο Ασφαλείας δεν εκπληρώσει τις υποχρεώσεις του, τότε νομίζω ότι πρέπει να το κάνουμε εμείς, και είμαι βέβαιος ότι θα πιέσουμε άλλες χώρες ή ομάδες χωρών να επιβάλουν κυρώσεις».
